On Feb. 18, 2015, USAID and the Philippine Department of Energy launched two new resource maps: the 2014 Wind Energy Atlas for the Philippines and the Geospatial Toolkit (GsT). These new publicly available resources will help advance the country's clean energy development goals.
The Philippine Wind Energy Atlas includes new, detailed data sets and maps to support government energy planning and industry investment promotions for the emerging wind energy sector. Meanwhile, the GsT provides user-friendly, dynamic maps and analysis of renewable resources: biomass, solar, and wind in relation to other data such as load centers, transmission infrastructure, road network, and protected areas. Hands-on training on the use of the toolkit and atlas was conducted right after the ceremonial launch.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory developed the Wind Energy Atlas and Geospatial Toolkit.
